Tirupalavanam G. Ganesh is an engineering education researcher and faculty member at Arizona State University, where he serves as program director for the Engineering Education PhD concentration. He previously served as Assistant Dean for Information Systems in the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education at Arizona State University and worked as a software engineer in the early 1990s in India developing a programmable interface for programmable logic controllers. A native of India, he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science and engineering and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies in Curriculum and Instruction. His research interests include: novel teaching learning experiences in K-12 education and undergraduate engineering education; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education; innovations in education research methods-graphical exploratory data analysis and visual representation of data including graphs, charts, and drawings; and open-access scholarly publishing and communication of research. Dr. Ganesh is the Principal Investigator of the National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored project titled "Learning through Engineering Design and Practice: Using our Human Capital for an Equitable Future." He has recently launched a longitudinal study of how female students develop engineering design skills and engineering habits of mind from sixth grade through twelve titled, "Girls in Engineering: Shaping our Future."
