This meeting will build on several recent NAE projects:  Admissions Practices workshopConnecting Efforts to Support Minorities in Engineering Education workshop, and the NAE-ASEE Weaving Students Into Engineering, Not Weeding Them Out conference (WINWO). The meeting will be held Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th, 2024, at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, DC. We will highlight the two workshop proceedings and the framework that emerged from the WINWO conference, and will also discuss future work that situate the admissions process within the larger system of recruiting, enrolling, and onboarding. Panel discussions will cover the evidence base on criteria used in admissions broadly and engineering admissions more specifically, the current legal landscape in admissions, broadening access through admissions, and promoting and measuring change. This will be a highly interactive meeting with several breakout discussions and opportunities for meeting attendees to provide input.
